Press release

Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica S.A. (“SNN”) informs its shareholders and investors that Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP was reconnected to the National Power Grid during the night of April 8, 2015.

Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 was disconnected from the National Power Grid during the evening of April 6th, 2015, in order to perform remediation works on a system related to the classical part of the power plant.

The repair works and the related verification test as well as the reconnection activities were carried out in compliance with the procedures of the power plant, as well as the protection and safety standards, without any adverse impact on the population, the staff, the installations and the environment.

The unplanned outages are controlled shutdowns of the power plant in order to perform precise remediation works on certain equipment, in  addition to the annual corrective maintenance program, which require the  shutdown of the units, as per the nuclear safety procedures. The specific remediation and maintenance outages are included in the annual budget, and in the case of Cernavoda NPP are three time below the current average in the nuclear industry.
