SN Nuclearelectrica SA announces that in the afternoon of February 6, 2024, a service air compressor, from the classical (non-nuclear) part of the Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 has triggered and released smoke (without fire), without impact on nuclear safety and personnel of the Cernavoda NPP Unit 2.

Currently, the equipment is isolated and investigations are underway to identify the cause.

The smoke release had no impact on nuclear safety and production, Unit 2 operating at nominal power and in normal parameters.
