Controlled shutdown of Cernavoda NPP Unit 1

 Bucharest, August 26, 2022

 SN Nuclearelectrica SA informs that Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 will be shutdown in a controlled manner in the afternoon of August 26, 2022.

The controlled shutdown of Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 is necessary in order to carry out repair works of the filtration system of the aspiration pool, in the classical part of the power plant. The repair works can only be done with Unit 1 in a shutdown state.

SN Nuclearelectrica SA will issue a press release regarding the reconnection to the National Energy System after completing the repair works.

The controlled shutdown and the completion of the repair works are done in compliance with Cernavoda NPP specific procedures applicable in such situations and have no impact on personnel, nuclear safety, environment and population.
