Bucharest, June 14, 2021
SN Nuclearelectrica SA informs that the works related to the planned outage of Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 were completed, including those performed to remedy certain problems identified at the electric system, in the classical part of the power plant, which lead to the extension of the outage period by 1 day.
The synchronization with the National Power System took place on June 14th 2021.
Unit 2 entered the planned outage on May 9th 2021 in order to complete the planned maintenance works, performed once every two years for each unit. During the planned outage, a number of 12,000 activities were executed out of the following programs:
- preventive and corrective maintenance program;
- inspection program;
- mandatory testing program during the planned outages in compliance with the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control’s requirements that can be performed only during an outage period;
- project changes implementation on certain systems/equipment/components.
All the works during the planned outage were carried out in compliance with the nuclear security measures, the applicable procedures and the measures for preventing COVID 19 spreading.
