S.N. Nuclearelectrica SA (“SNN”) announces that Cernavoda NPP’s Unit 1 was re-connected to The National Power Grid on 24.09.2019, 21:31 hours, after the completion of the remediation works.

Unit 1 was shutdown in a controlled manner on 18.09.2019 in the morning for the execution of remediation works of some leakages (minor cooling agent leakage) in the primary heat transfer system of Unit’s 1 reactor.

According to Cernavoda NPP’s specific procedures, the remediation works imposed in compliance with the design of the power plant require a controlled shut down.

The controlled shutdown had no adverse impact on the nuclear safety, personnel, population and environment, the remediation works being executed in accordance with the procedures applicable in such cases.
