SN Nuclearelectrica SA („SNN”) informs that starting with May 2nd 2017, 01:00 hours, Unit 1 of Cernavoda NPP will be disconnected in a controlled manner from the national power grid in order to perform certain maintenance works, which, according to the procedures of the power plant can only be performed in shutdown mode. The maintenance works involve the replacement of certain components related to the installations of Unit 1 and represents a scheduled activity in compliance with the necessities and procedures of the power plant.
Unit 1 will be reconnected to SEN on May 5th 2017, the controlled shutdown of Unit 1 being correlated with the necessity to carry out maintenance works and with the date when Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 enters the planned outage program.
Thus, Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 will enter the planned outage program on May 6th 2017, for an estimated period of 30 days, as per the schedule of each planned outage.
The planned outages represent complex projects, initiated with 24 months prior to the scheduled date, with a dedicated project management team, detailed works schedule, planned human and financial resources.
During the planned outage of Cernavoda NPP Unit 2, works related to the following programs will be carried out:
- The preventive/elective/corrective program;
- Inspection program;
- Mandatory testing program related to the planned outages;
- Change implementation program.
All the works related to Unit 1 and those established in the planned outage program of Unit 1 will be carried out under safety conditions for the personnel of the power plant, the public and the environment, as per the approved procedures of Cernavoda NPP.
