Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica S.A. (“SNN”) informs that on December 3rd, 2014, following the occurrence of certain issues at the Balance of Plant (BOP) of Cernavoda NPP Unit 1, a conservative decision was made to desynchronize the Turbo generator from the National Power Grid, while maintaining the reactor on power.
The unit’s systems operated in compliance with the project, without affecting the nuclear safety of the reactor, the operational staff, the population and the environment.
After the remediation works are completed, Unit 1 will be reconnected to the National Power Grid. SNN will issue a new press release regarding the synchronization of the Unit to the Nationa Power Grid.
