Societatea Naţională Nuclearelectrica SA announces the re-connection to the National Power Grid of the Cernavodă NPP’s Unit 2, as scheduled, during the night between 3 and 4 July 2013, after having overhauled the pinhole that led to the minor heavy water leakage in the reactor building.

All the systems have operated in compliance with the design, and Unit 2 is going through the power increasing process till the reactor reaches full power.

The re-connection activities have been carried out in compliance with all the power station’s procedures, and with the nuclear safety and industrial safety requirements as well, with no adverse impact on the population, personnel, facilities and environment.

During the outage and the restart of Cernavoda NPP Unit 2, there were no chemical or radioactive leaks to the environment.
