Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 to enter planned shutdown

Nuclearelectrica announces that starting with the May 7th 2010, Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 will enter the annual planned revision according to the operating procedures of the plant.
The desynchronization with the National Power Grid will take place on May 8th 2010, at 00:00 hours.
During the Planned Shutdown, which is scheduled to last 30 days, the following program activities will be performed at the station:
–    The program for mandatory inspections
–    The program for preventive and corrective maintenance which includes the verification of equipments for depreciation and the replacement of the ones identified as defect during operation
–    The mandatory testing program during Planned Shutdown, according to the regulations of CNCAN, which can be performed during reactor shutdown
–    The program for implementation of project alterations on certain systems/equipments/components.

The activities will be carried ensuring complete safety for the personnel, the population and the environment, according to the procedures approved and in use at Cernavoda NPP.
