Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 to enter planned shutdown

Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant’s Unit 1 will begin its planned outage program. The disconnection from the  National Power Grid will occur on May 10, 2014, hours 00:00.

The planned shutdowns of Cernavoda NPP Units 1 and 2 are part of the maintenance program and are performed once every two years for each unit.

 During the planned outage of Unit 1, the following activities will be carried out within the following programs:

–   Program of preventive and corrective maintenance;

–   Program of mandatory inspections;

– Program of mandatory testing, in compliance with CNCAN’s requirements, that can be performed only during an outage period;

– Program of implementation of project changes on certain systems/equipment/components.

The works will be performed under safe conditions for the plant personnel, public and environment in accordance with the approved procedures applied by the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant.
