Disconnection of Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 from the National Power Grid

Societatea Nationala Nuclearelectrica SA announces that on March 9, 2013, hours 08:45 am, the Cernavoda NPP’s Unit 2 was disconnected from the National Power Grid as a result of the activation of a protection system of the electric generator control system.

All the systems operated in compliance with the design, the reactor being kept under safe condition. No adverse impact occurred on environment or population.

A mixed team made up of specialists of the nuclear power plant and of the equipment manufacturer – General Electric are investigating, by performing tests and measurements, the cause of this tripping.

After having identified and retrieved the cause of this tripping, activation, the Unit 2 will be re-connected to the National Power Grid.
