Societatea Naionala Nuclearelectrica announces the automatic disconnection from the National Power Grid of the Cernavoda NPP’s Unit 2, today, 9 January 2013, hours 2:45 pm.

The disconnection was the result of some disturbances in the cooling system of the Unit’s electric generator.

The reactor is maintained safe, operating at 60% of its power, ready to be connected to the National Power Grid, only after the causes of the disconnection would have been clarified and the remedial measures taken.

All the Unit’s systems operated in compliance with the plant design and no adverse impact occurred with respect to nuclear safety, population and environment protection.

The re-connection to the National Power Grid will be carried out in mutual agreement with the National Power Dispatcher.
