SN Nuclearelectrica SA (“SNN”) announces that Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 was reconnected to the National Power System.

Unit 2 was automatically disconnected from the grid during the morning of 29 March 2018, following the trip of the protection system related to a turbine generator switch (thus, the electric process system), in the classical part of the power plant.

We remind the fact that there is no connection between the power reduction of Unit 2 from March 25th 2018 and the automated disconnection of the reactor from today, March 29 March 2018. The automated disconnection of the reactor from SEN is provided and achieved through the protection systems provided in the project for such situations and represents a conservative and procedure activity, without impact on the nuclear safety,

The automated disconnection of the reactor from SEN and the repair works of the electric process systems have no adverse impact on the personnel, the population and the environment, as they are performed in compliance with the nuclear safety norms and standards.Cosmin Ghita
