SN Nuclearelectrica SA („SNN”) informs that Cernavoda NPP Unit 1 will be reconnected to the National Power Grid on May 5th 2017, 07:00 hours, according to the controlled shutdown schedule.

Unit 1 was disconnected in a controlled manner from SEN on May 2nd 2017, 01:00 hours, in order to perform maintenance works which, according to procedures of the power plant, can only be performed with the reactor in shutdown mode. During the controlled shutdown period, components related to the installations of Unit 1 were replaced, as per the schedule of planned activities.

The works were performed under safety conditions for the personnel of the power plant, the public and the environment, in compliance with the procedures approved and used at Cernavoda NPP.

The controlled shutdown period of Unit 1 was correlated with the necessity to perform the necessary maintenance activities of the installations, as well with the planned shutdown of Unit 2 of Cernavoda NPP starting with May 6th 2017, for an estimated period of 30 days.
