Bucharest, 26 March 2018
S.N. Nuclearelectrica SA (“SNN”) announces that Cernavoda NPP returned to full power during the morning of 26 March 2018.
The powe reduction of Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 was caused by the necessity to replace a component (bearing) of the condensation pump engine, in the classical part of the power plant.
During the power reduction, Cernavoda NPP Unit 2 was connected to the National Power Grid and operated at a power of 300 MW.
These operational maneuvers are normal and are part of the operating activity. The power reductions have no adverse impact on nuclear safety or the operation of the reactor, as it remains connected to the National Power Grid and in normal operation mode, fulfilling all the nuclear safetu functions.
The power reduction of Unit 2 and the repair works did not have any adverse impact on the personnel, the population and the environment, as they were carried out in compliance with the procedures of the power plant.
